Our Story

Our Story

Deciding to move to a new country is more than just packing bags — it’s the beginning of a life-changing journey. At Diasporan Settlement Support Services, we believe relocation should feel less like a struggle and more like a warm welcome.

An idea conceived from my own personal experience as a newcomer struggling to adapt to a new country and culture. Everyday tasks felt overwhelming simply because I didn’t know how things were done locally. I realized how much easier and less stressful it would have been with a friendly local guide by my side—so I created this company to make that support available to others, helping newcomers settle in smoothly and feel at home faster.

I’ve created a service that goes beyond logistics — pairing every newcomer with a dedicated local guide who walks beside them as a trusted partner. From navigating paperwork and housing to learning cultural nuances and building community, we make sure every client feels supported, confident and at home here in Cape Coast – you are not navigating this new chapter alone.

My story is about people helping people — because settling into a new life should be about belonging, not just arriving.

Diasporan FAQs

Welcome to Cape Coast!

Your New Home by the Sea
— where the ocean breeze, community spirit, and cultural richness are waiting for you!

What is Cape Coast like compared to Accra or Kumasi?

Cape Coast is smaller, more relaxed, and deeply historic. While Accra is busy and fast-paced, Cape Coast offers a slower coastal lifestyle, cleaner air, and a strong sense of culture and tradition

Is Cape Coast safe for families and individuals?

Yes — Cape Coast is known as one of the friendliest and safest cities in Ghana. Like anywhere, petty theft can occur, but violent crime is very low. The community is protective of newcomers, especially diasporans.

What types of housing are available?

You’ll find everything from modern apartments and gated homes to traditional family houses. Rent is more affordable than Accra, and many homes come with spacious layouts and ocean breezes.

How do I find a home in Cape Coast?

Your personal assistant will assist with house hunting, lease agreements, and safe neighborhood selection. They will also help you avoid common pitfalls, like inflated “foreigner” pricing

What is the cost of living like?

Cape Coast is more affordable than Accra. Fresh produce, seafood, and local goods are inexpensive. Imported goods (cheese, electronics, brand-name items) cost more. Many diasporans find they can live comfortably on a modest budget.

What are the healthcare options in Cape Coast?

Cape Coast has several hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies. For specialized care, people often travel to Accra, but day-to-day healthcare is available locally. We help connect you to trusted doctors and health providers.

Are there good schools for children?

Cape Coast is home to renowned schools (like Wesley Girls and Adisadel College), as well as private schools offering international-style education. We can guide you to schools that fit your child’s needs.

What languages are spoken in Cape Coast?

English is the official language, so you’ll get by easily. The local language is Fante (a dialect of Akan). Learning a few Fante phrases goes a long way toward community integration, and we can help with lessons.

What is transportation like in Cape Coast?

Cape Coast is compact, so many people walk or use tricycles trotros (shared vans for long distance travel), taxis, ehailing app (bolt) or private cars. Roads are manageable, and traffic is far lighter than Accra. We can arrange reliable drivers or help with car rentals and purchases.

What is the local food like?

Expect delicious seafood, fresh produce, and hearty traditional meals like fufu, banku, kenkey, and red-red. We also guide you to diasporan-friendly restaurants and cafes when you crave something familiar.

How easy is it to make friends and connections?

Very! Cape Coast locals are open and curious, and there’s a growing diasporan community. We arrange host-family dinners, cultural tours, and community events so you’ll quickly feel connected.

What kind of activities can I enjoy?

Explore historic slave dungeons, beaches, Kakum National Park, art galleries, and cultural festivals. Cape Coast has a rich cultural calendar and our team introduces you to the best local experiences.

Are there opportunities to start a business?

Yes. Many diasporans open small businesses. Cape Coast welcomes entrepreneurship, and we connect you with the right networks to get started.

Will I experience culture shock?

Some adjustments (like power cuts, slower services or different social customs) may feel new, but most diasporans say Cape Coast feels like home quickly. Our orientation program helps ease the transition.

How will your team help me settle in?

We’re with you every step of the way — from housing, healthcare and schools to friendships, cultural immersion and finding everyday solutions. Our mission is to ensure you don’t just move here… you belong here.
